Matthew 6:34 says, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

This verse spoke straight to my heart, because as parents, it is so natural and easy to wonder about our children's futures. Often we imagine what they will be like, what job they will have, and who they will marry. We think about their futures with a sense of excitement and joyous anticipation. But there can also be so many other factors that worry us. Sometimes we create worries or worry about things that haven’t even happened yet. And sometimes we worry about situations or things happening now and how they will impact the rest of their lives.

Matthew 6:34 reminds us to slow down, take each day as it comes, and just focus on the day at hand. It tells us that God will take care of the rest, that His hand is in everything. We just need to be faithful and diligent about the things we can control and have an impact on. God will never give us more than we can handle, and no matter what we face, He is there with us, helping us each step of the way. With God by our side, we do not need to be anxious but can hand over every situation to Him.

God knows the worries of our hearts, and He knows we love our children. But we can place all that burdens our hearts at His feet, knowing He will carry them for us. With a God like this by our side, we can face everything with strength, peace, and boldness.

Matthew 6:34 encourages us to focus on today and trust God with tomorrow. Each day has its own challenges, but we are not alone—God is with us, providing for our needs one day at a time. Take a moment to reflect on the areas of your life where you feel overwhelmed by future concerns. Whether it's your children’s education, finances, or long-term plans, remember that God calls you to live in the present and trust Him with what’s to come. Imagine yourself handing over these worries to God, and feel the weight lift from your shoulders as you focus on the present moment.

Living in the present means cherishing the moments with your children, appreciating the small joys, and trusting that God’s plan is unfolding as it should. When worries about tomorrow creep in, remember this verse and let it guide you back to the peace that comes from trusting God with your future and the future of your children.

By embracing the wisdom of Matthew 6:34, we can become more present and attentive parents, trusting that God’s goodness and provision will see us through each day. So let’s take a deep breath, release our anxieties, and embrace the peace that comes from trusting in God’s perfect plan.
