John 1:12 says, "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."
As parents, we spend so much time shaping our children’s sense of identity, helping them understand who they are and where they belong. We encourage them to be confident, kind, and grounded in truth. But in the process, we sometimes forget to rest in our own identity—the most important one of all: being a child of God.
John 1:12 is a beautiful reminder that when you receive Jesus and believe in His name, you become a child of God. This isn’t just a title or label; it’s a deep, relational truth. You are His child, and that relationship comes with profound privileges: love, protection, guidance, and an eternal inheritance.
Being a child of God means that you have full access to Him. Just as your children come to you when they are hurt or need help, you can run to your Heavenly Father with your worries, stresses, and even your failures. He welcomes you with open arms and meets you with unconditional love.
As you navigate the challenges and joys of parenting, remember your own identity as a child of God. Let this truth ground you in His love, remind you of His constant presence, and encourage you to parent from a place of deep security in who you are in Christ.
Take a moment now to reflect on your identity as God’s child. Let that truth fill you with peace and reassurance as you go about your day.
