2 Corinthians 4:16-18 says "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
Parenting can feel like an endless marathon of tasks, exhaustion, and moments of doubt. Some days, you may feel completely drained, wondering how you can possibly keep going. In 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Paul speaks to this feeling of weariness, offering encouragement that, while our outer bodies may tire, God renews us inwardly each day.
Paul acknowledges that life is full of challenges, but he reminds us that these "light and momentary troubles" are temporary. They are producing in us something far greater—an eternal glory that outweighs all the struggles we face. This verse invites us to shift our perspective from the visible burdens of today to the unseen, eternal work God is doing in our hearts.
As a parent, you may sometimes feel like you have nothing left to give. Yet, God’s grace is at work within you, renewing you day by day. Each new day brings fresh mercies, and His strength is made perfect in your weakness. The challenges you face are not meaningless. They are refining you, preparing you for the eternal glory that God has in store.
Take heart. While the demands of parenting may feel heavy, the work God is doing in you through those moments is eternal. Fix your eyes on Him, trust in His renewal, and remember that you are not alone in this journey.
